Jill Young

As a sophomore BFA acting major, I am actively working to pursue my passions of acting, comedy, and writing. I am involved with many performance-related programs and organizations on campus. These range from Texas Student Television, where and I write and act for the FCCapproved shows Longhorn Latenight and Next Week Now. I am a performing member of Gigglepants, a comedic short-form improv troupe, and I am the chair of social media and marketing for an arts leadership group called Creative 40 Acres. In the past year, I have also performed in the 2017 Cohen New Works Festival, and with the student theatre group The Broccoli Project. This summer, I was lucky enough to intern through the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, and to travel throughout Belgium and The Netherlands. This year, I hope to become involved with more main stage UT productions, as well as more student-produced film and television. Fellow scholar Emma Rappold and I are in the process of creating our own production company.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program (FASP)?
The Forty Acres Scholars program allows me to make meaningful connections with people from majors and schools that I would not otherwise have the opportunity to interact with. The alumni network, study abroad opportunities, and supportive, creative, nature of the program distinguish it as a truly impactful scholarship program.
